- Tues 26 November
LEN IN LA PLAGNE TODAY:“Spent Monday morning helping to clear snow from the new metal steps toChalet Bouton D’Or and admiring the new kitchen in there. Got confirmationtoday that World Speedway Champion, Tai Woffinden, who took the title for Great Britain in September will be out to ski with us in Chalet Bon Coin the first weekof the season, December 15th. He is a super skier and great fun to ski with. Can’t wait to get out on the slopes with him.”
“Len’s Ski Tip”…Good preparation and good equipment make for a good holiday. So…do not buy cheap goggles,,always have the double skin type and never put your bare fingers on the lens. Best to put them over your eyes as you leave the chalet and do not touch them until you stop for lunch.”Continue reading →
- Len Silver in La Plagne…and the first of Len’s Ski Tips…
LEN SILVER IN LA PLAGNE:Saturday’s planned trip to Tignes was cancelled in favour of ski-ing from the Bon Coin down to Plagne 1800 and come back up in the mini-bus. Someone had seen a piste machine out doing it’s work so it seemed like a good idea…Oh no it was not! Sure, the piste machine had been out BUT it had only tracked the snow, not smoothed it, so the route was lumpy and rough…plenty of snow but quite heavy and hard to ski in it’s broken state. But we all got to the bottom in one piece and I realised that I needed to lose some weight and get fit…so what’s new ?It brings me to the first of my daily
“Len’s ski tips”…Get fit for your holiday:Two ideal excercises…some hard brisk walking, at least 2 miles a day (get up early to make time!) and knee bends holding the back of a chair. This strengthens the muscles around the knee and could help avoid ligament damage. Happy ski-ingContinue reading →
- Len in La Plagne….22 November 2013… Len Silver in La Plagne…22 November 2013…Woke this morning to find brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies. The snow isjust like a Christmas Carol…deep and crisp and even…looks perfect to ski on, butno lifts open yet. Just as well because I would have been tempted and at 81 itnow takes me a bit longer to get acclimatised to the altitude. Some of the staff are having a day off on Saturday and visiting Tignes for day’s ski-ing on the glacier and down to Val Claret…..Shall I go ???? LenContinue reading →
- Len Silver arrives in La Plagne
LEN SILVER ARRIVED IN LA PLAGNE YESTERDAY –
his thoughts on arrival are as follows:
“Arrived in Chalet Bon Coin yesterday to find over 50cm of snow.
A first meal with our new chef proved that I am going to have to watch my weight as every morsel was delicious ( and the wine slipped down very easily too).
Early to bed after a social chat with the latest chalet recruits for a good night’s sleep.
Up at the crack of nine o’clock to find a heavy snowfall in process and -6C on the thermometer.
Can’t wait to get my skis out and prepare them for the first tracks” – Len.
Len will be providing regular updates with news from La Plagne –
watch this space folks!Continue reading →
- Snow Envy?
Most of the time the ladies in the Maidstone Office are envious of our staff in resort….. but some days (like today) we hear stories of staff stranded, cars being dug out, entrances having to be re-cleared etc and we thank our lucky stars for the warmth of our office!!
Sooooo much snow has fallen over the last 24 hours in La Plagne and things have definitely been ‘fun’ in resort today!!!!
