Silver Ski Guests - Must Have Items on the Slopes for 2011/12

It’s that time of year again, the new ski season is upon us and the more fashion conscious Silver Ski guests out there are worried about what to wear on the slopes this year. The team at Simply Piste the online ski clothing store, specialise in ski and snowboard wear and have a large variety of ski jackets and accessories in stock for the coming season. They’ve kindly put together a post on what styles they think will be heavily featured on the mountains this year. So, whether you travelling to La Plagne, Courchevel, Meribel or La Tania, read on for great information on what to be seen wearing on the slopes in France.
What to watch out for
Practicality is almost certainly a compromise of style. This makes it hard to put together a definitive list of “what’s cool” for 2011/2012 due to the sheer amount of cool features most ski jackets now have. However we can start by suggesting some simple styles.
In General a lot of items this year seem to have simple print designs. Most are easily transferable across other garments. We love the Women’s Elana Jacket by Animal. Its subtle print design doesn’t scream too loudly and blends nicely with other colours and attire.

We’ve also noticed a lot of manufacturers this year focus their attention on less bulky items. The O’neill women’s Escape Kyanite jacket is a perfect example of a non bulky item. We like the added feature of the Polka dot trim on the pockets and wrist gaiters, very fetching.

We’ve seen a trend in women buying bright simple colours this year. You should be able to turn heads for the right reasons and jackets like the women’s Columbia Lay D down jacket is perfect for this. It comes with their special omni tech heat system which has received some very positive reviews. It also comes with a faux fur hood trim which has also seen a rise in popularity in recent seasons.

Keeping up with the simplicity factor, this next item wouldn’t look too out of place on the high street. Combined with great technical features, the Oakley women’s GB eco shell jacket goes perfectly with many other colours.

New to the Simply Piste store this year is the Swiss brand Eleven. This item is the Men’s Root jacket. Again what we love about this design is the simplicity. The denim print is a great touch, and as you can see, bulkiness has been cut out of Men’s jackets as well.

Moving away from ski Jackets now, an item we’ve received a lot of positive feedback for this season is the new North Face Womens Abby III boot. They come with some great practical features such as their ice pick technology, ensuring that you don’t take a tumble onto your backside, ruining all the style and dignity you thought you had.

We’re really excited about our kids ski wear range this year. And to celebrate this we’ve chosen some funky designs from our new partner Molo. In particular the tots Rainbow Pyxis suit is very vibrant...... It appears that simplicity does not apply in ski wear fashion for children.

Icebreaker is usually known for its base layer clothing. However their Flexi chute neck gaiter is actually quite appealing and trendy looking. Again it’s fairly simple, not too exuberant and looks like it fits great.

Finally to add a little bit of humour to this post, I found these great beanies this morning by a total fluke, and now I’m hooked on them. The Beardo Beanie’s come from Canada and we’d love to get hold of some over here, simply for the quirkiness alone.
